Attendance at all mandatory rehearsals and performances is required to ensure the success of each production. Absences will only be excused if approved by CYC staff at the time of your audition and noted on your audition form. The Charleston Youth Company calendar is available online for planning ahead.
For all companies, the two scheduled Saturdays each month and the week leading up to each show are mandatory. Stagecraft & Tech Company members also participate in truck loading, theatre load-in, set strike, and returning materials to the warehouse, including the Sunday afternoon after each show. Your commitment and teamwork help make every CYC performance possible!
Parent involvement is an important part of the Charleston Youth Company experience. Each family is asked to complete three volunteer commitments during the season. Parents may be assigned to help up to two evenings during both the Winter and Spring Shows in areas such as ushering, the memorabilia table, dressing rooms, or makeup.
We understand that emergencies can arise, and make-up opportunities will be available when possible. Fulfilling these commitments ensures our productions run smoothly and helps support the creative community that makes CYC special for every student.
As a non-profit organization, Charleston Youth Company relies on community and family support to help sustain our programs. We host several fundraisers throughout the year to ensure students can continue pursuing their passion for the performing arts and growing through theatre education.
Participation in fundraising is strongly encouraged and directly supports costume costs, theatre rentals, scholarships, and production expenses. Every ticket sold, raffle entered, or item donated helps CYC continue to provide meaningful, high-quality arts opportunities for young performers across the Charleston area.
Tickets for all Charleston Youth Company performances are included in your tuition cost. Each family receives an assigned number of tickets per show, with additional tickets available for purchase through the CYC website or at the theatre box office during show week.
Inviting friends, family, and community members to attend is a great way to celebrate our students’ hard work and share the joy of live theatre, while helping support the continued growth of CYC’s productions and programs.
